In Memoriam: Leslie Hirschorn

Leslie was a founding member of the Cat Protection Council of Westchester. She lived in Yonkers, where she ran a pet sitting business, volunteered her skills and time helping community cats, and cared for her elderly mother and many four-legged family members. Leslie was a dear friend and consummate animal lover. Her kind heart, warm smile, and commitment to improving the welfare of community cats are greatly missed but live on in all that our organization does.

Our Formation Story

The Cat Protection Council of Westchester was formed in April 2014 in response to the bodies of 25 cats, some of which showed evidence of blunt force trauma, found hanging in plastic bags from tree limbs in Yonkers.

This horrific discovery exposed the need for greater resources for Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return and led to our mission to better cats' lives through advocacy, education, and community outreach.
